Nicholas Kennedy

I built my practice to help employees navigate serious workplace issues with clarity and confidence. I represent professionals in Pittsburgh and across Western Pennsylvania in complex employment matters, providing strategic guidance, careful negotiation, and strong advocacy.

“From the moment I contacted Kennedy Law, I felt that my situation was handled with the utmost professionalism and care. I was in a very stressful situation, and thanks to Mr. Kennedy, we were able to achieve a favorable settlement and quick resolution. His strategic approach and dedication turned a very difficult time into a positive outcome for me and my family.”

Every situation is different. Some clients need discreet advice before raising concerns internally. Others need help negotiating a severance package or resolving a dispute through mediation. And when an employer fails to act responsibly, I am ready to pursue formal legal action, including taking a case through trial.

Workplace conflicts are rarely just potential legal problems; they affect reputations, careers, and families. I work with each client to evaluate risk, identify leverage, and pursue a resolution that protects their long-term professional and personal interests.

My practice includes matters involving sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, whistleblower claims, and employment contract disputes. While each case presents its own challenges, all require careful analysis, sound judgment, and a strategy tailored to the individual client.

Additionally, I am a trained mediator and serve as an approved neutral for the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania’s ADR program. I also provide pro bono mediation services for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. I approach mediation with a focus on thorough preparation, realistic risk assessment, and practical solutions.

I graduated among the top five students in my class at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and was selected for Law Review and The Order of the Coif, a national academic honor society recognizing graduates in the top ten percent of their class.

After law school, I practiced in New York City, gaining experience both at a large law firm and with The Legal Aid Society, where I represented individuals facing significant legal challenges. Working in New York’s demanding legal environment strengthened my analytical approach and reinforced my commitment to representing people whose livelihoods and stability were at stake.

I later returned home to Pittsburgh and built a practice focused on representing employees in complex workplace matters. Employment law allows me to combine strategic counseling, thoughtful negotiation, and, when necessary, courtroom advocacy on behalf of individuals navigating pivotal moments in their careers.

Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife Lindsey and I often take our son to Raystown Lake, where we spend time outdoors and I work on my mountain biking skills (including the art of falling and getting back up).

Service to the Pittsburgh community is an important part of my professional life. I serve as the Immediate Past President of Neighborhood Legal Services and volunteer with the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh. I also co-chair the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Community Service Committee, where we organize volunteer and outreach projects throughout the region.

People rarely want to find themselves needing an employment lawyer. But when my clients do, I am committed to empowering them and delivering results so that they can get back to their lives.
